When I was creating CRIMSON COLLAPSE I wanted the face to feel like it was almost falling apart but still holding itself together. The red gives the whole piece this really intense energy and the black and white face cuts straight through it. I wanted all the shapes and marks around the face to feel like thoughts and emotions crashing into each other at the same time. The name CRIMSON COLLAPSE came from that feeling of everything around you becoming chaotic but somehow you are still standing in the middle of it. I wanted the painting to feel aggressive emotional and a little uncomfortable but still powerful. Even with everything feeling like it is collapsing around the character the face is still there holding its place.
